On the market in Highland Park: a 1963 Keck & Keck house

still occupied by the original owners. Check out the listing here.
From the interior pics, it seems to be in excellent condition, and although you would probably do some re-decorating [flowered wallpaper in a Keck house?], it looks like you could move right in.
The ask is $489,000, which to me seems like a bargain for a 4 bedroom 3 1/2 bath house in Highland Park [ok, the “wrong” part of Highland Park, but zip code 60035 all the same], If you could somehow transplant it to Palm Springs, it would probably sell for $1M+.
It’s not all about location, though. People who want a 4 bedroom house in Highland Park want one with at least three garages and a lot more lavish space than the measly 2756 sq ft here. If this were on a bigger lot, it probably would be scraped and replaced with a starter mansion.
While Keck & Keck was a really prolific firm, it would hurt to see this one go, because the Highlands doesn’t have a lot of distinguished architecture. So its “bad” location and little lot size combine to make for a preservation strategy of sorts. I just hope someone who appreciates good design finds it and loves it.
