Wonderwall

I am wondering what to make of this new building under construction on Clark between Grand and Illinois. I can’t decide if the patterned window wall is cheesy or kind of brilliant. Certainly it’s the type of visual statement that not many Chicago buildings make.

What’s maybe most peculiar about this project is that there is absolutely no marketing attached to it. I found a post on Curbed that indicates it will be part of a mega-hotel complex that will cover the entire block, but the utter lack of signage with any information is a real head-scratcher. I had to ask one of the construction workers who the architect was: HOK.
